Amy Rose Capetta sets a haunting and thrilling mood within the first few pages of “The Lost Coast”. We follow the story of Danny as she adjusts to life in her new home. But as she settles in Tempest, California, Danny feels drawn to the woods and to the mysterious group of friends known as the Grays. Along with her newfound companions, Danny discovers that there is a mystery alive and waiting to be solved in Tempest: the disappearance of one of the Grays’ friends. As she becomes more involved with her friends she finds herself tangled in a world of magic. Her journey causes the heart to pound and pages to turn. Along with Danny’s perspective, we are introduced to other voices and shift through time as the picture becomes clearer. “The Lost Coast” is a story of friendship, determination, bravery, and love which surrounds you with mystery and magic. Danny is a character that is relatable and charming, leaving you to imagine yourself in her place. Each of the Gray’s is unique and genuine, offering their own perspectives and conflicts. I would recommend this story to anyone who is interested in gay witches, friendship, and love. And to any who want to get lost in the woods and find themselves taken in by a coven of witches.
